Celebration Nationals 2025
Duluth Entertainment Convention Center June 24th-June 29th
PLEASE read all of the information on this page!
So much fun and important information. We are so excited for Nationals!
Tentative Competition Schedule:
Please click HERE for the tentative schedule.
Please remember that although Duluth is a fun place to vacation, hike, swim and have fun, we are here for a Nationals Competition and that dance should be the priority.
1. Plan to come and cheer on other WBDC dancers! We really hope to see dancers and families coming earlier, staying late or stopping by on a different days to cheer on and watch other WBDC dancers. The event as a whole is what makes Nationals so exciting and we hope to see lots of WBDC dancers taking advantage of everything Nationals has to offer.
2. SUNSCREEN!!!! Please make sure dancers put on and reapply sunscreen during this week! Crazy tan lines are not acceptable and sunburns take a lot out of dancers and really hurt with dance costumes!
3. NO SWIMMING or HIKING! Dancers can NOT swim or hike before they dance. Swimming and sun take a lot out of dancers and we are here to compete. Dancers can swim/hike on days they don't dance, or after they are done dancing for the day!
4. SLEEP AND EATING Vacations are always fun, and eating and sleeping schedules aren't always the most regular. Please make sure dancers are getting enough food and rest that they need in order to be ready to compete.
5. Award Ceremonies Dancers must attend award ceremonies. All groups will have a dancer assigned as to who will be standing/picking up the award(s), please see below. All dancers must have something WBDC on while on stage for awards.
Convention Classes on Tuesday 6/24 and Wednesday 6/25:
Convention classes are taught by Celebration Judges and Faculty in a variety of subjects. Convention classes are not required for WBDC dancers, but we do expect dancers to attend if they are in Duluth on 6/24 and 6/25.
WBDC will hand out wristbands to dancers during our final Nationals rehearsal on Saturday, June 21st. There will NOT be replacement bands available on site at Nationals, so please be very careful with them. Dancers will not be admitted into convention ballrooms without a wristband and must wear wristbands at all times during convention classes. Wristbands are non-transferable and should not be removed until convention classes have concluded on Wednesday. Dancers are welcome to attend classes on the 25th if they are not in town on the 24th.
All dancers attending the Convention Classes please email info@whitebeardancecenter.com by Sunday, June 14th. WBDC would like to know who to expect in classes so we can keep everyone included in pictures/lunch meeting location/etc.
Observer Wristbands: Observer wristbands pricing hasn’t been announced yet but they will be able to be purchased on site at the registration desk. We encourage families to skip the observer bands, unless it is really necessary for your dancer. Jenny and Katie will be moving between rooms, but have other things going on, too, and will not be around all of the time. Dancers must be self-sufficient inside the class room. WBDC will plan to sit together during the lunch break.
Things to Note for those attending Convention Classes:
1. Be sure to have tap, ballet, freeform, tennis shoes, the ability to be barefoot and socks. Dancers must be in the appropriate footwear for the corresponding dance genre. It isn’t ok to NOT have the correct footwear.
2. Be sure to wear bright colors. We suggest leotard, bra top, shorts, tank top, and sweats. Please choose excellent fitting dancewear. Dancers are welcome to wear WBDC apparel.
3. Be sure your hair is tied back neatly. Ponytail or bun is best. Please do not wear a low ponytail that just falls out over and over. A pony that is secure and can last the day is the best. Hair accessories are cute, but please make sure they do not fall out while you dance.
4. Make sure you thank your teacher after each class.
5. Be sure to be 10-15 minutes early to the first class, do not arrive late. Dancers should stow their belongings under a ballroom chair and then find a space on the dance floor and begin stretching/warming-up.
6. Bring a water bottle.
Convention Schedule:
Please click HERE for the 2025 Convention Schedule.
Scholarship Auditions:
Dancers participating in convention classes on both days or just the 25th should plan on attending the Scholarship Auditions from 9:15-10:00am. Dancers will be taught a combination during this time slot and perform it in groups for the Celebration Judges. The groups are pre-assigned by Celebration by age. Each dancer will be given a number to wear during auditions, which will be picked up at WBDC with their wristband. Please be sure your dancer has safety pins with them to securely attach their number. These auditions are a BLAST and we encourage WBDC dancers to participate. Katie and Jenny will be with the dancers, but there are no other observers in the ballroom, even with a purchased observer band. The Scholarship Winners will be announced at the final 12 and under and 13 and over award ceremonies during the competition week.
Dancer’s Convention Cool Down-Ice Cream Social:
There will be a Dancer’s Welcome-Ice Cream Social on Tuesday 6/24 from 1:45pm-2:45pm. This is for all dancers who have a wristband from participating in the Convention Classes.
Competition Meeting Times:
More information will be listed here once available.

Celebration Showdown on Sunday 6/29 at 10:00am. (Seating doors open at 9:00am.)
20 of the highest scoring small groups, large groups and lines will be invited to perform in the Showdown “DanceOff”. In addition, each judge will be picking one 12 & Under routine and one 13 & Over routine to compete for the Judge’s Choice Cup; these 6 routines will also perform in the Celebration Showdown. The 10 Dancer of the Year Finalists will also perform during the Showdown to determine the winners and runners up. Finalists for Petite and Junior Routines will be announced during their Final Awards on Friday 6/27 at 10:15am, and Teen and Senior finalists will be announced during their Final Awards on Saturday 6/28 at 7:30pm. Showdown Finalists will not receive scores or critiques – the winners will be chosen by the judges based on performance. Order of performance will be determined depending on participants and will be announced and posted in advance.
THIS IS A HUGE HONOR, so if your dancer is in a piece that were to make it into the showdown, they will be expected to be there. Everyone has worked so hard this season and it will let a lot of people down if someone chooses not to stay and others need to re-block at the last minute. Remember we will not know for sure who will be performing until the final awards ceremony for your dancer's age group!
