Some information about how many times we are going to Duluth and traveling out of state for Nationals:

We loved taking some dancers to Palm Springs, CA this summer and hoped we would be attending an of state nationals next summer, too. All of the National experiences connected with the competitions we are attending this year really didn’t provide an experience that was worthy of the time/money of traveling. We researched a lot of other options, but either the Nationals didn’t provide any extras (Large title soloist experiences, good workshop classes, improv options and large gala/showdown/finish to the week), they were so expensive that it just didn’t seem justified or it was not going to be a good schedule for WBDC dancers.

We are honored that Riley and Sienna were awarded Junior and Senior Dancer Of The Year 2023 for Celebration. The moment they received this honor, we knew we would be doing Celebration Nationals again, whether it was our whole studio or as an optional event to support them. This year it is the best choice to make it our full studio nationals.

We feel it is a solid 50%/50% of our families that enjoyed Duluth versus Wisconsin Dells, and vice versa, for a local nationals. We hear all the opinions, positive and negative for all locations and options, and do take them into account, along with so many other factors in these decisions.

Will we do an out of state Nationals next year? We truly hope that the right situation will evolve like it did for Palm Springs and we have either a full studio or optional out of state nationals for the 2024-25 season.

Will we always go to Celebration if we have the honor of title winner? We will always go and support a Nationals title winner be it with Celebration or another competition. We would always show up to support those dancers! It may be in an optional capacity or as a full studio depending on the year and schedule.

Do we know if Celebration is returning to Wisconsin Dells in future seasons? No idea!

We consistently hear that “We have decided we will do out of state every other year”, “We are going back to Wisconsin Dells next year”, “We aren’t going to Nationals ever again”, “Nationals will be optional forever and ever”, “Nationals is the only thing we are doing” “We are only going to Nationals that begin with letter Z” and/or “We are going to Mars for Nationals”. The point is, we can not tell the future either and it just isn’t our style to pretend that we can. Every season we will take all the feedback from our families, all competition companies’ decisions in their schedules/events, what is worth the money and time and just a general what is best for WBDC’s competitive program THAT YEAR and then make these decisions about Nationals.

Week before Dress Rehearsals, Performance/Competitions/Mandatory Events:

The week before dress rehearsal/performance/competition and any mandatory scheduled rehearsals, are just that, mandatory. Failure to attend rehearsal or class be it for cleaning, choreography, or technique, may result in removal from part or whole of choreography or performance. Not all situations are the same and will be handled on an individual basis. There will be no refunds for competition entries.

Any company dancers, Level 1 or 2, will have an adjusted schedule the weeks leading up to dress rehearsal and/or competition weekends. We often have to change times/days to accommodate rehearsal schedules for those that have their weekly classes during the various events. Full updated schedules will be available in DSP calendars in January 2024. Dancers will be required to be at all rehearsals.

Petite Company Hair/Make-up/Competition Accessories:

Please Click HERE for Hair/Make-up information for the 2023-24 season. A tips/tricks/how-to video is in all families DSP accounts.

Click HERE for 2024 Company Tights/Shoes/Accessory Information.

Music/Rehearsal Videos:

We will be using WBDC/DSP account for all Music and Rehearsal Videos. Petite, Junior, Teen, Senior Company and Small Groups will have their music uploaded after Company Kick-Off in August.

Solos/Duets/Trios will have their music uploaded late August/early September. Some dancers begin pieces earlier than others, only due to scheduling of choreographers and multiple pieces. It doesn’t have any other meaning then it is impossible for everyone to start at the exact same time and it is impossible to edit/upload everything at the same time.

Rehearsal Videos will be uploaded for classes as it makes sense to create them.

Small Group, Solo, Duet and Trio Optional Regionals and Optional Nationals Competitions.

**Please see your dancer’s invitation for Solo, Duet, Trio and Small Group Opportunities for the 2023-24 season.

Optional Regional Competition:

Energy Dance Competition March 1st-3rd at TBD.

Solo Entry $142, Duet/Trio Entry (per person) $80, Group Entry $66 (per person)

Registration is on your Dancer’s Company Registration Link and the entry fees will be added to your Dancer Package.

If not all dancers select a small group, duet or trio, we will notify dancers involved and that piece will not compete. Since it is an optional event and so early in the season, we will not be re-blocking any pieces.
